Senior Pastor
Dr. Ross Mckinley Cullins, Sr.
I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior at a young age. At the age of twenty I began to understand the Lordship of Jesus Christ. After being persuaded that God had called me to preach, I accepted the call in June 1970 and preached my trial sermon. In June 1970, he accepted his call to the ministry and was licensed by the St. Paul Baptist Church in DeKalb, TX. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bishop College in 1973 and was ordained to the ministry by the Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas in January, 1974. The Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary was earned in 1994. In May 1998, a Doctor of Ministry Degree was earned from Houston Graduate School of Theology in Houston, Texas.
He served as Pastor of the Canaan Baptist Church in Maypearl, TX from 1974-1977 and assistant to the late Dr. E.K. Bailey of Concord Baptist Church in Dallas, TX from 1978-1986. He presently serves as the Senior Pastor of the Solid Rock Baptist Church located in Houston, Texas where he has labored for the past 26 years. His philosophy of ministry is largely formed by the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). He believes the Church has the dual responsibilities of leading people to accept Christ as Savior and Lord, and helping them to become mature disciples in the Christian faith.
Dr. Cullins is married to Dandy Ruth Levy-Cullins. He has five adult children, (one deceased), twenty two grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Dr. and Mrs. Cullins team up to conduct pre-marital counseling, marriage conferences, and retreats.
